Little Women Inspired Yarn Club: Amy Colourway Reveal
Share
Hello and welcome to the first instalment of the Four Sisters Yarn Club. Have you been reading the book or watching your favourite adaptation?
Please note, this post contains plot spoilers.
Our theme this month, for the first book, is Amy. An event that usually comes to mind with Amy is the incident with the limes. However, reading the book this time, it was the burning of Jo’s precious book that really stood out. It occurred to me that this event, and the day that follows, hold some valuable life lessons. It reminded me how challenging it can be to make things right after a wrong, but also the importance of forgiveness.
Sometimes, we can hold onto anger or hurt so tightly that it becomes bigger and seems more important than it really is. It can take someone literally falling through the ice to put things back into perspective.
For this colourway, I tapped into Amy’s misconception that forgiveness would come easily, and the tiptoeing she needed to do before she literally broke through the ice. This colourway reflects the tightrope Amy walks after wronging Jo and her earnest wish to make amends.
In previous readings of Little Women, I’ve sided with Jo, feeling the injustice of Amy burning the book. This time, though, I found myself seeing Amy’s actions with fresh compassion and recognising her genuine hope for forgiveness.
I’d love to know how this month’s colourway resonates with you, and what your favourite or most memorable Amy moment is. Comment below and share your thoughts.
Happy making!
