Nature Trails Autumn Yarn Club Colourway: Pistachios
I’ll be the first to say that I’m in no way a green thumb, nor am I a natural-born-farm-girl. However, I do live on a bush property and I’m doing my best to learn the ins and outs of living in and caring for this beautiful place.
We have two beautiful pistachio trees down by the path to the hut. In previous years, we haven’t had any luck getting nuts, but this autumn was different. A dear friend of mine (who is a very clever plant lady and a green thumb extraordinaire) was visiting one day and excitedly announced to me, “Bec, your pistachios are ready!”
I was amazed because I had given up on ever getting a crop, but of course, she was right! We spent the rest of the afternoon picking and shelling the nuts, which was such fun and reminded me of times as a child harvesting almonds with my mum and grandma.
This was such a special experience that not only helped me feel connected to my home and the autumn season but also to my childhood.
I hope you enjoy the colourway “Pistachios” and that it helps you feel connected to a favourite time or memory too.
